ZendCon Keynote

I’m at ZendCon this morning and I’m really excited for the conference. The keynote is starting in a few minutes. I laughed out loud when I walked in and they were playing the song from Iron Man 2 when Hammer made his presentation at the big Stark Convention. I couldn’t get the image of that guy dancing around on stage.

So there’s this really cool visualizer that is showing tweets. Somebody’s tweet showed up saying, “I wish I had an excuse for feeling this hungover. #ZendCon”;

Andi (Zend CEO) is on stage now. Talking about disruptions in web development: Mobile, Cloud, Social.
Andi is talking about SalesForce.com Chatter as a disruptive technology.

Guitar Masters

I had the privilege this week of seeing the Guitar Masters show with Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour, and Stephen Bennett. Andy has been one of my personal guitar heros for some time now. Getting to see him live was absolutely amazing, and getting to meet the three of them after the show really made my day. Clare Hegg was gracious enough to snap the photos above. Death Cab for Cutie

I headed to Red Rocks in Morrison for my 3rd Death Cab for Cutie concert. We started with the obligatory tail gating with awesome beer.

Missed the opener. DCFC opened with I Will Possess Your Heart and played older songs the next 3 pieces, which was surprising. The sound is way too hot. I thought I saw Benjamin askin for more vocals but I think the real problem is too much of everything else.

5th song: Doors Unlocked from Codes and Keys.

Next was Long Division:

Grapevine Fires. Benjamin: “sorry to the Long Division fans. I was a little winded. As you know, we are playing on top of the moon”

For the encore they start with Home Is A Fire. I can’t help but think this doesn’t translate well live. It feels like they need a fifth member to pull it off.

Niwot Jazz Festival (Photos)

I visited the 2nd Annual Jazz Festival with the bambinos this weekend. We heard a variety of Jazz from some excellent artists, featuring Latin, straight ahead, and contemporary jazz. Got some great shots of the boys while we were out.

These are definitely not on my diet, but they’ve been staring at me all day. They sure as hell aren’t paleo, but if I were a caveman, I’d be all over these things like Oprah on a baked ham.

My Left Retina

I just had my picture taken. I think I might have had some red eye. These are photos from my eye appointment this morning. I love this – rather than having to dilate my eyes (which I absolutely hate), they used a giant camera to take photos of the back of my eyes in a dark room. The bright spot in the middle is my optic nerve. The dark spot on the back is the middle of my retina, where most of my vision comes from. It’s dark because it has more pigment.

Now I can go back to my daily routine without being miserable from crazy saucer eyes.

Fantastic Night

Wow, I had a really fantastic night tonight. I met a friend/former coworker after work for dinner, headed to the Mountain Sun for some of the best beer in Boulder, and randomly made some really cool new friends who hung with me at the Laughing Goat until we closed it down. Ended the day with a ride home in beautiful evening weather and now headed to bed with a good book.
